Medication Management for Mental Health
Finding the right psychiatric medication can feel overwhelming—but you don’t have to navigate it alone.
At Valiant Mental Health, our team of experienced psychiatric providers in Post Falls, ID, offers personalized medication management to help you feel better, regain balance, and move toward long-term wellness.
We provide evidence-based medication management for mental health both in-person in Idaho and through secure telepsychiatry in Washington, Alaska, Arizona, Nevada, and Hawaii—so you can access expert care no matter where you live.
What Is Medication Management?
Medication management is a collaborative process between you and your psychiatric provider.
It involves much more than writing a prescription. Our approach includes:
A full assessment of your symptoms and history
Careful selection of the most appropriate psychiatric medications
Ongoing monitoring of your response and side effects
Adjustments over time to ensure the best results
Our goal is to reduce your symptoms, improve daily functioning, and help you feel like yourself again.
Your provider will consider your medical history, lifestyle, and treatment goals so your plan is truly personalized.
Because we stay current with the latest research, you can trust that your treatment is both evidence-based and patient-centered.
Who Can Benefit from Medication Management?
You may benefit from mental health medication management if you’ve been diagnosed with—or believe you may have—a condition that impacts your ability to function at home, work, or school.
Common conditions we treat include:
Mood Disorders
Major Depressive Disorder: Persistent sadness, loss of interest, and changes in sleep or appetite.
Bipolar Disorder: Episodes of depression alternating with periods of elevated mood (mania or hypomania).
Anxiety Disorders
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD): Constant worry that feels hard to control.
Panic Disorder: Sudden, intense episodes of fear (panic attacks), often with physical symptoms like chest pain or shortness of breath.
Social Anxiety Disorder: Intense fear of social or performance situations, often leading to avoidance.
Agoraphobia: Fear of being in places or situations where escape may be difficult or help unavailable.
Specific Phobias: Irrational fear of specific objects or situations, such as heights, animals, or flying.
Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD): Unwanted thoughts and repetitive behaviors that cause distress.
Trauma- and Stressor-Related Disorders
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD): Emotional distress, flashbacks, nightmares, or avoidance after trauma.
Neurodevelopmental Disorders
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD): Ongoing issues with focus, impulsivity, and/or hyperactivity that interfere with daily functioning.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD): Challenges in social communication, restricted interests, and repetitive behaviors, typically recognized in early development.
And more
Even if you’ve tried medication in the past without success, a fresh approach with expert guidance can often make a difference.
What to Expect at Your Appointment
Your first medication management appointment is designed to understand your needs and goals.
We’ll discuss:
Your current symptoms and how long you’ve experienced them
Past treatments or medications you’ve tried
Your medical and family history
Your preferences for therapy, lifestyle changes, or other support
Together, we’ll create a plan that may include starting a new medication, adjusting your current prescription, or switching to a better-suited option.
Follow-up visits allow us to monitor your progress, address side effects, and make adjustments as your needs evolve—ensuring your treatment remains safe and effective.
Why Medication Isn’t One-Size-Fits-All
Your mental health journey is unique, and so is your response to medication.
At Valiant Mental Health, we recognize that:
Genetics, stress, sleep, and lifestyle can affect how medications work for you
Some conditions respond best to a combination of medication and therapy
Side effects matter, and should be openly discussed
Your needs can change over time—and we’ll adapt your plan as they do
Our collaborative approach puts you at the center of your care.
We provide professional guidance while respecting your insight into how you feel.
Medications We Commonly Prescribe
We use a range of evidence-based psychiatric medications, including:
Antidepressants: Such as SSRIs and SNRIs for anxiety, depression, and PTSD
Mood Stabilizers: Including lithium or lamotrigine for bipolar disorder
Stimulants & Non-Stimulants: For ADHD treatment
Antipsychotics: For schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or severe mood disorders
Anti-Anxiety Medications: Used thoughtfully, often for short-term relief
Your plan may involve a single medication or a carefully chosen combination to achieve the best results with the fewest side effects.

Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re glad you had a positive experience. While we can’t always accommodate same-day appointments, we always do our best to get patients scheduled as quickly as possible. We appreciate your recommendation!Posted on A LTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I've been seeing Randy for probably a year now. His style of counseling is right up my alley: No bs and no coddling. I can speak directly and openly with no judgement (and sometimes I even get a laugh out of him.) Anyone who thinks he's dismissive or claims he said he can't help them obviously needs to do some introspection. If he said he can't help, I guarantee the entire statement was "I can't help you if you're unwilling to help yourself." Therapy is about wanting to be there and wanting to improve mental health. Anyone unwilling to face the ugly in their lives won't be successful in therapy, *regardless* of the therapist.

Therapy works best when individuals are willing to engage honestly with themselves, and your insight into that is powerful. Randy was very patient, addressing all my concerns, and he listens extremely well, clarifying misunderstandings instead of jumping to conclusions. He was also very clear about medications and the negative and positive side effects of each type, and how they interact with my medical history personally. He is a *very* good psychiatrist. Most of all, I appreciate the flexibility he offers in scheduling appointments at nighttimeor daytime, weekdays or weekends, and in person or online. This is incredibly helpful for shift work and unpredictable schedules. I have had bad experiences with psychiatrists in the past, and I recommend him as one of the best options around.
