Telepsychiatry & Psychiatric Medication Management in Mesa, Arizona
Mesa has grown to roughly 515,855 residents, making it the third-largest city in Arizona — and about 118,000 of those residents, nearly a quarter of the city, are 60 or older. Mesa consistently ranks among the top U.S. cities for incoming retirees, while also being home to ten colleges and universities. That mix of a large older population and a growing younger one means very different mental health needs living side by side, and local psychiatric capacity hasn’t kept pace with either.
Valiant Mental Health provides licensed telepsychiatry and psychiatric medication management to Mesa residents by secure video, so age, mobility, or a packed local schedule don’t have to get in the way of care.

Why Mesa Residents Are Choosing Telepsychiatry
For older adults, late-life depression and anxiety are common but often under-treated, and getting to in-person appointments can be complicated by mobility issues, driving concerns, or simply the distance to one of the few psychiatric offices in the East Valley. For younger residents and students, packed schedules and long commutes across a fast-growing city create a different version of the same access problem.
A secure video visit works for both. Same evaluation, same medication management, same follow-up care, without the drive.
Conditions We Treat
We provide psychiatric medication management for the conditions we see most often in Mesa adults and adolescents:
- Depression & Mood Disorders
- Generalized Anxiety Disorder
- Panic Disorder
- ADHD
- Bipolar Disorder
- PTSD
- OCD
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Agoraphobia & Specific Phobias
- Social Anxiety
- Adjustment disorders and life stress
Many patients pair medication management with talk therapy — see our Counseling & Therapy page if that’s part of what you’re looking for.
What a Telepsychiatry Visit Actually Looks Like
- You request an appointment online. No referral needed.
- Your first visit is a full evaluation — your history, symptoms, and goals, done by secure video from wherever you are.
- If medication is appropriate, your provider walks through the options with you and sends the prescription electronically to your Mesa pharmacy.
- You return for regular follow-ups to check how things are working and adjust as needed — the same way you would in person.

Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re glad you had a positive experience. While we can’t always accommodate same-day appointments, we always do our best to get patients scheduled as quickly as possible. We appreciate your recommendation!Posted on Google A LTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I've been seeing Randy for probably a year now. His style of counseling is right up my alley: No bs and no coddling. I can speak directly and openly with no judgement (and sometimes I even get a laugh out of him.) Anyone who thinks he's dismissive or claims he said he can't help them obviously needs to do some introspection. If he said he can't help, I guarantee the entire statement was "I can't help you if you're unwilling to help yourself." Therapy is about wanting to be there and wanting to improve mental health. Anyone unwilling to face the ugly in their lives won't be successful in therapy, *regardless* of the therapist.

Randy was very patient, addressing all my concerns, and he listens extremely well, clarifying misunderstandings instead of jumping to conclusions. He was also very clear about medications and the negative and positive side effects of each type, and how they interact with my medical history personally. He is a *very* good psychiatrist. Most of all, I appreciate the flexibility he offers in scheduling appointments at nighttimeor daytime, weekdays or weekends, and in person or online. This is incredibly helpful for shift work and unpredictable schedules. I have had bad experiences with psychiatrists in the past, and I recommend him as one of the best options around.

Frequently Asked Questions About Telepsychiatry in Mesa
Is telepsychiatry a good fit for older adults managing several medications already?
Often, yes. Your provider will review your full medication list as part of the evaluation to watch for interactions, and video visits can actually make it easier to keep up with regular monitoring compared to arranging transportation to an office.
Do I need to live in central Mesa to use this service?
No. As long as you’re physically located in Arizona during your appointment and have a private space with a reliable internet connection, you can be seen anywhere in the East Valley or the state.
Can telepsychiatry be used for ongoing medication management, or just a first evaluation?
Both. Most patients start with a full psychiatric evaluation and then continue with regular follow-up visits by video for medication monitoring and adjustments, the same way you would in person.
Can you prescribe controlled substances, like stimulant medication for ADHD, through telehealth?
In many cases, yes, when clinically appropriate and permitted under current telehealth prescribing regulations. Your provider will review this with you directly during your evaluation.
Does Valiant Mental Health treat both students and working adults in Mesa?
Yes. We see a broad range of Mesa patients, including ASU Polytechnic students and working adults, all through the same secure telehealth visits.
How far in advance do I need to book an appointment in Mesa?
Most new Mesa patients can be scheduled for an initial evaluation within a few business days, with follow-up medication management visits typically set on a recurring schedule.
